In the Tropenmuseum you and your students will find a whole world of stories. We offer an exciting mix of exhibits; combining ethnography and contemporary art.
Tropenmuseum offers an extensive range of activities for primary and secondary school children.
For schools from abroad, the museum also offers guided tours of the museum highlights in English. Read the interview with Claire Bown, developer of Stories Around the World.

“I just wanted to say thank for you having us at the museum. The children really seemed to enjoy the experience and the time spent on each item was valuable. The children were really captivated by what they saw.”
(Andrew Bannister, Violenschool International Primary School)
Stories Around the World is a new participative programme for international primary schools in English. It has been developed over the past year in conjunction with several international schools.
This new programme explores the theme of stories and storytelling by looking at and connecting with a series of carefully chosen objects around the museum. Students will look at the way objects can tell stories about people, ideas and the objects themselves.

Compile your own programma
You can also compile your own programme for your museum visit. To prepare for this we provide the option of a free visit to the museum. Our museum educators are always ready to share ideas with you as teachers about organising a specific programme for your students.
