Sun Festival

Visitors to the Tropenmuseum can become acquainted with the most inspiring, exciting and moving stories from all corners of the earth. This summer from 28 June to 31 August, the Tropenmuseum has organised daily activities for young and old alike. Unless otherwise stated all the activities are free (included in the admission price).
Sun Festival - 5 July to 31 August (all ages)
Join us as we celebrate the Peruvian Sun Festival! From 5 July a specially made Temple of the Sun will stand in the Lighthal at the Tropenmuseum, where you can find out everything about this festival. You can even take a seat on a royal throne and sing a hymn to the Sun. Download the Sun song here! Children will enjoy solving the special quest as they tour the Temple of the Sun. Unless otherwise stated all the activities are free (included in the admission price).
Sun workshops (ages 4-13)
Everyone aged between 4 and 13 is welcome at the Sun workshops, held daily between 12.00-16.30 hours. The most important person during the Sun Festival is the Inca king. The king is decked out with suns and wears a crown adorned with exotic feathers. Children can make their own Sun Headdress adorned with feathers or a Sun Pendant showing the face of the sun god Inti.
