Culture on the Catwalk

Culture Couture: traditional clothing, modern designs, unique sketchbooks, video portraits and fashion shows! This exhibition showcases the creations and designs of 4 young designers of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium.

Third-year students have been inspired by clothing and accesories from non-western cultures. The exhibition displays an selection of their modern designs based ont the traditional clothing.

The Catwalk Performance on January 24th was a great succes! Visitors saw a close-up of the unique and extraordinary fashion creations.

Designers

The exhibition in the Tropenmuseum showcases the work of four young designers: Izumi Hongo, Setareh Mohtarez, Matthieu Thouvenot and Pierre-Antoine Vettorello. It includes their replicas of traditional dress, two contemporary designs, special sketch books, video portraits of the designers and a film of the students presenting their work. This provides a revealing behind-the-scenes look at the students’ research and design process.

NOTE
