Wereldmuseum Junior - Sabi Surinam

The discovery of The World behind the Things

After closing time Harvey was visiting his uncle Kenneth in the Wereldmuseum Amsterdam. Uncle Kenneth works in the Surinam depository. Seven floors under the ground.

In Sabi Suriname you’ll get to know a lot about Surinam, the bond with the Netherlands and how Surinam connects with the world. Sail on a boat through the Busi Kondre and play the What is where? game about what you encounter on the way. Discover the Surinamese kitchen and shop for the ingredients for a delicious Surinamese dish. How do you get to Sabi Suriname? You have to go deep under the ground and enter a secret world!

Please note: Sabi Suriname is only in Dutch.

For more than 40 years

Wereldmuseum Junior was founded in 1975. It is the oldest children’s museum in the Netherlands and one of the oldest in Europe. We offer an appealing museum concept (seeing, touching, experiencing and participating), specially focused on children aged 6 to 13 years. Wereldmuseum Junior is part of the Wereldmuseum Amsterdam, and since 2014 part of The National Museum of World Cultures.

“The Wereldmuseum Junior is a real experience!
All the senses are aroused!” (visitor Tim)

Special learning method Wereldmuseum Junior

Wereldmuseum Junior has developed a special learningmethod. Driven by a personal, authentic, comtemporary hands-on collection and multidisciplinary activitities the kids experience different world cultures.
